W1 – 3
  • Line drawing showing minimal control – No shade or tone.
  • Line drawing showing recognisable shape  – No shade or tone.
  • Line drawing showing shape and areas of shade or pattern.
1C – 1A

G

  • Make basic line drawing.
  • Use 1 shade or tone using either colour or greyscale.
  • No annotation

F – E

  • Make line drawing that is quite accurate in some areas.
  • Use 2 shades/tones.
  • Add details – patterns and shape.
  • Label your drawings using at least 2 keywords.

E – D

  • Draw quite accurately showing some control with proportion.
  • Use 3 shades/ tones.
  • Add details and some surface textures with some mark-making in areas.
  • Blend quite smoothly in areas.
  • Annotate your drawings using at least 3 keywords.

D – C

  • Draw quite accurately, in proportion.
  • Use 4  different shades/ tones.
  • Add details and surface textures using 2 different mark-making techniques in areas.
  • Blend quite smoothly in areas.
  • Annotate your work using at least 4 keywords and explain the keywords.

  • Draw accurately in proportion and the scale is even.
  • Use 5 different shades/ tones
  • Add accurate details and surface textures using mark making e.g. lines and dots etc.
  • Blend smoothly.

     

  • Annotate your drawings using short sentences and keywords. Explain what the keywords mean and how you have used materials to create tones.

B – B+

  • Draw very accurately in proportion and the scale is even.
  • Use 6 different shades/ tones
  • Add accurate details and surface textures using appropriate mark making. e.g. lines and dots etc.
  • Blend smoothly and evenly.
  • Annotate your drawings using short sentences and keywords. Explain how you have controlled your materials and what the keywords mean.

B+ – A-

  • Draw very accurately in proportion and to scale all of your drawings are even and symmetrical where appropriate.
  • Add strong and varying details to suggest the feel of the surface of your drawing using a wide variety of appropriate mark making.
  • Blend smoothly and evenly that appears with contrasting light and dark e.g. (clear areas of white for highlights and darker strong tones for lowlights)
  • Use 7 different shades/ tones
  • Annotate your drawings in detail using a variety of keywords. Explain how you have controlled your materials and what the keywords mean, discuss/evaluate your work.

A- – A 

  • Draw very accurately in proportion and to scale.
  • Add extensive details to suggest the feel of the surface textures using a wide variety of appropriate mark making.
  • Blend smoothly and evenly that appears sharp and clean. (clear areas of white for highlights and darker strong tones for lowlights).
  • Use 8 different shades/tones.
  • Annotate your drawings in detail using coherent written language and a variety of keywords. Explain how you have controlled your materials, how successful your work is and any improvements you may want to make.
