W1 – 3
  • Minimal control with brush strokes – uneven block colour.
  • Minimal control with  recognisable shape – uneven block colour.
  • Minimal control with areas of pattern or shade.
1C – 1A

G

  • Show basic control with brush strokes, minimal control when working up to edges.
  • Use 1 block colour.
  • No annotation.
2C – A

F – E

  • Showed some brush control.
  • Use 2 different shades
  • Attempted some blending
  • Label your drawings using at least 2 keywords
3C – A

E – D

  • Create quite careful colour mixing and application of paint in areas
  • Use 3 different shades
  • Add some detail
  • Blend quite smoothly in some areas
  • Annotate your drawings using at least 3 keywords

  • Create quite careful colour mixing and application of paint, working neatly up to the edges of your painting
  • Use 4 different shades
  • Add details
  • Blend quite smoothly in most  areas
  • Annotate your work using at least 4 keywords and explain the keywords.

  • Paint quite accurately in proportion and to scale mixing paint effectively
  • Use 5 different shades
  • Add quite accurate details and surface textures using a variety of appropriate painting techniques
  • Blend smoothly.
  • Annotate your drawings using short sentences and keywords. Explain what the keywords mean and how you have used materials to create tones.
6C – A

B – B+

  • Paint accurately in proportion and to scale mixing paint effectively, creating smooth and neat edges
  • Use 6 different shades
  • Add accurate details and surface textures using appropriate painting techniques
  • Blend smoothly and evenly.
  • Annotate your drawings using short sentences and keywords. Explain how you have controlled your materials and what the key words mean.

B+ – A-

  • Paint extremely accurately, in proportion and to scale creating a wide ranges of tones applying these effectively creating depth, shadows and highlights
  • Use 7 different shades
  • Add extensive details and surface textures using a variety of appropriate painting skills
  • Blend very smoothly and evenly
  • Annotate your drawings in detail using a variety of keywords. Explain how you have controlled your materials and what the keywords mean, discuss / evaluate your work.

A- – A 

  • Paint extremely accurately, in proportion and to scale creating a wide ranges of tones applying these effectively creating depth, shadows and highlights
  • Use 8 different shades
  • Add extensive details and surface textures using a variety of appropriate painting skills
  • Blend very smoothly and evenly – creatively controlling colour
  • Annotate your drawings in detail using a variety of keywords. Explain how you have controlled your materials and what the keywords mean, discuss / evaluate your work.
