YEAR 9

Project 1 – Rollover.
Pupils will study the artist “Brno Del Zou”. Photographs will be based around portraits inspired by the artist. Introduction to basic Photoshop skills and off-screen manipulation.Project 2 – Landscapes.
Students will begin to study the exposure triangle to broaden their knowledge of key techniques. Students will gather inspiration from different types of landscape (natural and built). The project includes a trip to Clumber park so that students can practice/refine their photography skills.
Project 3 – Water.
Students will have the chance to develop their understanding of shutter speed as well as increase their ability to skillfully record their ideas/taking photographs and continue to develop digital manipulation skills both on and off the screen.
Project 4 – Food.
Students will develop their understanding of Aperture completing the final aspect of the exposure triangle. The project will focus on close up work, photographing food-based products, using “Marks and Spencer” as inspiration for an advert.
Project 5 – Colour.
Pupils will develop their ability to research artists around a particular theme and be able to take photographs that are influenced by these. They will also continually build on their digital manipulation skills whilst editing their own images in line with their chosen artist influence. Pupils will be expected to incorporate all aspects of the exposure triangle into their work.
Project 6 – Motion.
Pupils will have the chance to study motion photography. They will learn how to produce slow motion photographs, gifs/boomerangs to show their photo shoot process and/or creation of an alternative final outcome as well as how to record their screen to show their digital manipulation. This project begins to build on the skills needed for a successful piece of GCSE coursework.
Project 7 – Coursework structure.
Focused around bringing together all of the skills developed throughout the year to enable students to understand how a full GCSE project will be structured. Each project will build on this individually throughout the year.

Introductory Skills – Mini Projects. Looking at a variety of camera techniques as well as digital and mixed media manipulation. Street Photography Project- Trip to Whitby to support this. Close Up Photography Project – Trip to the butterfly house to support this. Close Up Photography Project and kaleidoscope Project. Kaleidoscope Project and Mixed Media Project. Mixed Media Project and Mock exam based on current years exam paper questions.

 

YEAR 11

Mock Exam project based on last years exam paper questions. This will include a 5-hour mock exam. Improvements to course. Students will select their 3 best projects and improve these to the standard of which they are targeted. Exam – Students will receive the exam paper from the exam board and select a project of their choice from the 7 questions. 10 Weeks of lesson prep time is then given.
