Demonstrates an excellent understanding of the activity.

Can play their main position to a high standard, may struggle to adapt to a different position (GS). Able to move around opponent with ease and offers countless options for their team during attacking play. All core skills and relevant (to position) advanced skills completed successfully to a high standard. Successfully selects and uses appropriate skills on many  occasions. Demonstrates a very good understanding of the activity.

(16-17)

Completes all core skills to a very high standard. Students should now be marking the player throughout the game regardless of where the ball is. Player can ‘switch’ who they are marking with team mates (zonal defence). Successfully selects and uses appropriate skills on many  occasions. Demonstrates a very good understanding of the activity.

(14-15)

Rarely get pulled for footwork. Passes should be accurate and consistent. Shooting should now be accurate from varied distances in the circle (step and shoot). Players start to zonal mark their players (Shadowing). Players can dodge around their players successfully without contacting. Successfully selects and uses appropriate skills on some occasions. Demonstrates a good understanding of the activity.

(11-13)

Should be able to Pass and land correctly almost all of the time. Player can get into a good position to attempt retrieving the rebound. Very rarely replays the ball. Shooters can use the step and shoot with some hesitation. Can intercept the ball successfully in a game. Should be able to get around their opponent. Successfully selects and uses appropriate skills on some occasions. Demonstrates a good understanding of the activity.

Can shoot with some consistently from close range but lacks power from further out. Players attempt to rebound the ball, often contacting their player. Demonstrates the ability to catch the ball in the air and time the interception with limited consistency in an isolated situation. Players struggle to get free for the ball. Successfully selects and uses appropriate skills on some occasions. Demonstrates some understanding of the activity.

Passing and footwork should now be more successful. Player shows little accuracy when shooting from a stationary position close to the net. Shows little effort to retrieve the rebound. Player should now be able to man-man mark in a game successfully. Successfully selects and uses appropriate skills on some occasions e.g. knows which pass to use when.

Can perform all passes in a game with some success. Can demonstrate a chest and shoulder pass over the correct distance. Catch the ball on the run with some success, often breaking footwork rules. Successfully selects and uses appropriate skills on some occasions. Demonstrates some understanding of the activity.

(1-3)

Attempts to land correctly in a game with little consistency. Can mark a player with a ball successfully. Attempts to man on man mark with no success. Successfully selects and uses appropriate skills on few occasions. Demonstrates little understanding of the activity.
W3 Can perform footwork in an isolated activity (statue of liberty). Can perform all passes in an isolated activity with some consistency.  Shows no evidence of being able to defend Rarely selects and uses appropriate skills successfully. Demonstrates limited understanding of the activity.
W2 Can perform a chest, and bounce pass with some consistency in an isolated activity. Takes an extra step when trying to land correctly. Replays the ball often. Rarely selects and uses appropriate skills successfully. Demonstrates limited understanding of the activity.
W1 Able to use a chest pass whilst stationary with a lack of power and little consistency. Cannot perform footwork at all. Catching is inconsistent. Shows little or no understanding of the activity.
