Our Year 10 students have been working hard in Textiles and have recently completed the ‘Dress A Girl Around the World’ project.
This involved designing and making dresses to be sent out to those in poverty in the developing world as part of a UK nationwide charity campaign in partnership with the ‘Hope 4 Women’ global charity.
Miss Wainwright is travelling to East Africa and volunteering in an orphanage in Tanzania over the summer holidays so will be hand carrying and delivering the dresses to those in need where they will be distributed accordingly, and hopes to have lots of photographs to show the students upon her return.
We are over the moon with the results and have received fantastic feedback already, with lots of students and staff commenting on how wonderful they are.
If any one would like to donate gifts such as teddies, small pencil or sewing kit gifts or even make a dress, bag or pair of shorts themselves feel free to contact the Textiles Department. You can find more information on the Dress A Girl website – http://www.dressagirlaroundtheworld.co.uk
Well done – A very proud Textiles Department!
