Y8 Art Students Embrace Sea Life and The Jungle
Art & Textiles
Wednesday 1st April 2020

Year 8 Art students are currently making ceramic thumb pots inspired by the theme ‘Sea life’. The students have researched artists like Kate Malone and Carolyn Saxby to gain an understanding of the structure of the thumb pot and how textures of the sea can be transformed into 3D form. Students have used these textures and a range of sea creatures to decorate their thumb pots using a range of manipulated clay techniques.

Some of our Year 8 students have been making individual technical paintings of animals and creatures linked to the theme ‘Jungle’. Here, students have heightened their painting skills by working from images of parrots.

Well done to all our Y8 students and keep up the good work!
