Sheffield Hallam University are working with local employers to recruit Year 13+ students onto Degree Apprenticeships, starting in September 2017.

Job title: Apprentice Maintenance Engineer

Start date: July/August 2017

Salary: £11,000

Training provider: Sheffield Hallam University

Entry requirement: Grade BBC at A-Level or Distinction Merit Merit at BTEC, including a Science, Engineering or Maths subject.

Apprenticeship: Integrated Engineering (Mechanical pathway)

Level: 4 & 5 (with optional Level 6 top up)

Company background: They have been established for 110 years. They manufacture and pack a range of cake mixes, savoury mixes and desserts. They supply to customers across the UK and internationally. They currently employ 61 people.

Job description: Working as part of a small team of experienced engineers, the apprentice will be responsible for the general maintenance of machinery. They will repair breakdowns to keep the business moving. They will also help to fit new lines of machinery and carry out regular safety checks.

Person spec: You must be practically minded, versatile and reliable. You have good communication skills and a strong work ethic. The employer is looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career with the business. A driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
