Well done to our Year 9 students who have completed their Brilliant Club Scholars Programme final assignments last week. Share…
Students from both Wickersley and Rawmarsh School were invited to visit ARM technology in Sheffield through our partnership with Business in the Community.
ARM develop the microchips and devices that make modern life possible. More than 95% of wearable technology devices are powered by ARM and their technology goes into autonomous vehicles and clinical settings to name a few. Their company focuses on developing beneficial technology. Students had an overview of the work that ARM do, developed racing cars’ using Microbits and Raspberry Pi coding and over pizza at lunch had the chance to talk to existing employees about their career paths and current roles.
The students taking part had a truly unique insight into this very exciting and forward thinking workplace and we cannot thank the staff involved and Business in the Community enough for the time that they invested in our young people. Everyone wants to go back again and not just for the pizza!
During our time there we learnt about many different roles linked to engineering – more information about this can be found on ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers’: http://www.tomorrowsengineers.org.uk/
