A selection of Wickersley and Rawmarsh students recently had an RAF Station Visit to Royal Air Force Leeming in North Yorkshire organised by Flt Lt Steve Metcalfe. During our day on the base, students were able to experience many different aspects of the daily work of the RAF including Logistics, Cyber Security, Catering, Vehicle and Mechanical, Physical Fitness and the work of the 100 Squadron.

We were treated to lunch in the Mess and had the opportunity to sit inside one of the fast jet Hawk aircraft based at Leeming.

Students met so many staff involved in a whole range of careers at all levels who were very enthusiastic and informative about opportunities within the services ranging from school leaver apprenticeship entry to Officer degree level university sponsorship through the Defence Technical Undergraduate Scheme.

We even met a junior pilot hoping to be part of the Hawk Aircraft flyby of Buckingham Palace when the RAF celebrates 100 years of service this July.  The visit was made possible by the RAF and our partnership with HEPPSY+.
