Recently a Wickersley School and Sports College student Harry Sheffield reached out to Andrew Macmenemey in the RAF, currently working at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire on 13 Squadron (the only UK based Remotely Piloted Air System (RPAS) squadron) and began asking for information about a career in the military, in particular, a career as an RPAS Pilot.
Harry made it clear that he would be extremely interested in visiting the squadron to see how they work, what life is like within the military and get advice about how he can join the military and ultimately become an RPAS Pilot. Harry arranged this during his own time within the summer holidays and visited the squadron on Friday 31st August.
Andrew wanted to take the opportunity to tell us how impressed they all were of Harry’s maturity and drive to take such an interest in a career at his age.
Harry arrived on the squadron and was polite, friendly and extremely inquisitive and is a credit to your school. I have no doubt that if Harry continues to apply this amount of drive and focus he will be successful in whatever he chooses to do in the future!
