Well done to our Year 9 students who have completed their Brilliant Club Scholars Programme final assignments last week. Share…
An exciting event to mark a fabulous achievement. Yesterday evening was the graduation event for our Year 9 students that have completed their ‘Brilliant Club’ programme. This is an intense academic project during which an existing PhD researcher tutors school students on their particular area of research.
Leonardo Stella was our tutor for the Brilliant Club this year, Leonardo who is originally from Italy is currently a PhD student at the University of Sheffield, where he studies the problem of reaching consensus as a collective entity for multi-agent systems. His work focuses around why taking inspiration from nature can be and it is important for engineering.
Our students covered topics such as stability and how logic contributes to AI and robotics. For their research and final assignment Wickersley students focused on bioengineering – specifically how the waggle dance of the bumble lee links to mathematical modelling!
Students had a launch trip to the University of Manchester – a series of tutorials in school – and final graduation in the Diamond Building at the University of Sheffield.
Congratulations to all of our graduates:
