On Thursday 14th March, ten Year 8 students attended a Teen Tech day at Doncaster Railway College as a reward for excelling in their Resistant Materials lessons.

At the start of the day, the students had to present a brand new invention to over 50 students from other schools, this was a demanding task but the students performed calmly under pressure and came up with the rubbish collector 3000 which earned them a reward at the end of the day.

Students took part in a range of different activities led by nationwide technology and engineering firms such as Mott MacDonald and the BBC Academy. These included using VR headsets as a way of looking at buildings before they are constructed and experimenting with a green screen, used when working on television productions.

The students were praised by the companies running the workshop for their enthusiasm and hard work. It also gave the students an opportunity to take a closer look at what civil engineering and many other Construction based occupations do on a day to day basis.

A fantastic and informative day which the students enjoyed.
