Jessica Heaps in Year 9 History has produced a wonderful piece of artwork to creatively express the learning she has…
Y9 pupils in Mrs Fairhurst’s class did some fantastic research to find out who in their families had been involved in WWI and WWII. The information they came up with was incredibly moving and inspiring. A selection of pupils also brought in items to help tell their relatives’ stories.
This is just a small sample of some amazing stories. If you get chance, ask Ben Smith about the tragedy that befell his ancestor after WWI or Lydia Dulley about the lucky escapes her relatives had in WWII.
To immerse yourself even further in the history of World War One, there is a fantastic trip to Belgium in Easter 2017. You will visit the sites where soldiers from our local area fought and the cemeteries where many were laid to rest. It is a thought-provoking experience and humbling. There is also time to relax in Bruges for a day and sample lots of lovely chocolate.
