The Wickersley silhouette within school is dedicated to Mr George Henry Shaw who was born in Wickersley and was one of the 28 World War 1 soldiers who were killed. He died on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. Mr George Henry Shaw is the great great great uncle of Mikey Dodson in Year 7 and his grandmother brought in a photograph of Mr George Henry Shaw to see the silhouette for herself. The silhouette can be found in reception along with some information about the 28 men who were killed from Wickersley which was put together by an ex-WSSC student Joe Stanley.
