On Thursday 13th June, the History department took 45 Y9s, Y10s, and Y12s to York St. John University to attend the York Witness Initiative Conference, organised by Ambassadors of the Holocaust Educational Trust. The trip was open to students who had achieved Outstanding on all of their data collections this year, and they continued to be fantastic on the day itself.
They took part in lectures and workshops before hearing talks from Karen Pollock, Rachel Riley and Holocaust survivor Janine Webber. What a privilege it was to hear Janine’s testimony in particular.
I was so proud to attend this event with our students and we got brilliant feedback from the organisers who were impressed with their behaviour and participation in what was an intense, academic day.
