Wickersley School and Sports College year 7 students are learning to sign as part of the preparations for the school’s annual musical Christmas Celebration, which will be held of the evening of Thursday 17th December at 7pm.
Teachers and pupils have been working with signing instructors to help teach over 300 pupils the sign language to a number of songs.
Creative Arts Faculty Leader, David Dixon said “we have been working closely with our colleagues in our hearing impaired department to learn how to sign songs to help raise awareness of hearing impairment. It is great fun and also creates a great inclusive atmosphere in the classroom”.
Pupils have thoroughly enjoyed learning to sign whilst singing and would love to show you how well they have done. If you would like to see them in action, why not pop along to the WSSC Christmas Celebration; Tickets are available from the school box office 01709 542147 or online at www.positickets.co.uk
