Setting the Scene

Following their recent trip to the woods to explore the setting of Dennis Kelly’s DNA students were asked to present their own interpretation of the set. Ben Hince, Jessica Vaughan and Lucy O’Neill decided to create detailed model settings of their ideas.

In preparation for the written exam, students must consider how the play could be staged on four different types of staging and here we can see two designed for a proscenium arch stage and one in traverse staging. Students have considered the structure, style and genre of the play alongside the use of set and props then gone on to explain how their choices of set design can be used to show the themes, characters and relationship changes in the play.
