National Careers Week – A Career in Music 🎶
Careers
Thursday 5th March 2020

Former student Gabi Wilson joined us as part of National Careers Week, prior to her joining ‘The Blossoms’ on their UK tour next week, to talk to our Year 9 GCSE Music students about her journey so far in becoming a Music Events Manager.

After studying GCSE’s and A-Levels at Wickersley School, Gabi went on to study at BIMM in Manchester and is currently in her second year. Students heard about not only what her degree course entails but how in the Music Industry you have to always be looking for work and building up your experience. She talked to them about the importance of communication and how she has to interact with a wide range of people.

The students had a Q&A session where they found out more about the reality of managing events, gigs, life at a festival and on the road with one student asking ‘what are the expectations versus the reality?’. This was a wonderful opportunity for the students and they are eager to find out more about BIMM and their future career choices.

Many thanks to Gabi for taking the time to speak to us during National Careers Week and Mrs Mullins for arranging this opportunity.
