At the end of the previous half term 56 students from years 9, 10 and 12 visited the British Army at the Catterick Barracks in North Yorkshire. The students had a taste of Army life, got to experience a real working Barracks and interact with professional soldiers.

As well as undertaking missions and various physical activities, the students had the opportunity to work with the Black Rats, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Hunter and Major Humphries from HQ at Catterick. The students (and staff) enjoyed every minute of their stay, and particularly enjoyed the shooting range and meeting The Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers(1REME), Queens Own Yeomanry (QOY), Military Police (1RMP) and Medics. They experienced the treacherous assault course, learned the basics of camouflage techniques, solving a thrilling crime investigation scene and learnt how to dress serious wounds.

The students returned to school full of enthusiasm about the positive experience they had (and very tired).
