Help Lucy Follow her Dreams ⛸
School News
Thursday 19th July 2018

Your support is needed for a talented athlete with big dreams and aspirations.

Lucy Hancock Year 10 started ice skating when she was just 8 years old. She has recently been given the opportunity to train in Michigan over the summer with the current top Olympic coach who teaches the current world champions. This is an amazing opportunity but also a major expense.

To date, Lucy has won 13 golds, 13 silvers and 1 bronze, achieved two British gold titles in 2015 and 2016, and silver in 2017. She was nominated by the National Ice Skating Association (NISA) to represent GBR in the development camp in Oberstdorf in April 2018 giving Lucy the opportunity to work with elite coaches from around the world. Lucy’s goal for this year is to compete at the British championships in December at our home venue Sheffield. The ultimate goal is to reach the Olympics in 2026 representing Great Britain in the Ice Dance category (similar to the local skating legends Torvill and Dean).

Ice skating is a very expensive sport and Lucy is now at a stage where she needs support to help achieve her goals. She has been given the opportunity to train in Michigan over the summer with the current top Olympic coach who teaches the current world champions. This is an amazing opportunity but also a major expense.
