Since the beginning of March, Lucy Ellis Y9 has been competing in numerous high-level swimming galas with the aim of qualifying for the national British summer swimming championships.

She set the bar by winning gold and becoming Yorkshire champion in 200m butterfly in her age group in February and cemented it with a bronze medal in the event at the North East Regional finals earlier this month.

Last week it was confirmed that Lucy has qualified to swim at the British Championships and she will be heading to Glasgow at the end of July.

Only 24 swimmers from Great Britain in each age group per event get invited to compete so it’s a massive achievement and testament to the 16 hours training she puts in every week.

Well Done Lucy
