Teachers in the maths department were so impressed with a revision video Lucy Bunclark created for her upcoming assessment, they were inspired to raise money for a charity close to her heart.
Pupils in year 7 and year 8 are encouraged to act on feedback and produce revision for their assessments, and Lucy decided to create a video in which a character called Jane was answering maths questions on a TV quiz to win money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Jane performed admirably, answering every question correctly and winning the top prize!
Lucy emailed her video to Mr McMahon, and as more and more teachers in the department caught word, a crowd formed in the workroom. After recognising the video’s quality and humour, along with the effort that must have gone into creating it, the department were moved to act. A day later, the ‘pot for loose change for Jane’s prize’ had collected £40, and this was donated this morning to the charity.
Lucy’s video was also shown to the rest of her class, along with the enjoyment of viewing it, Mr McMahon knew that the level of content included could help pupils in preparation for their upcoming assessment.
Well done Lucy for working so hard in preparation for your assessment – and well done ‘Jane’ for winning the quiz!
