Mission Christmas

This year Wickersley School took part in Hallam FM’s Mission Christmas Project. This asks people to buy one extra Christmas present, or donate money to buy presents for children in South Yorkshire who otherwise would not receive any gifts on Christmas day.

The project was led by our Head boy and Girl, Amy Hitchings and Joe Moran and involved students from Year 8 up to Sixth Form. We’d like to congratulate the year group that achieved the most gifts, which was Year 8 who as always showed off their creativity and hard work with bake sales, copper drives and competitions to raise over £150 in addition to an amazing range of gifts. The Hot chocolate and cake sales run by the mentors in the common room were also highly successful raising over £200, all of which has been spent buying gifts to give out in the local area.

The pictures show just how well we did as a school with hundreds of gifts reflecting the generosity of our students (and their parents). This project is a simple way to make the world a better place so our warmest thanks to everyone who donated a present or cash this year. Merry Christmas!
