Recently Year 11 have been taking part in a competition being run by NCS and Rotherham United Community Sports Trust.

The NCS team visit school on a weekly basis to run competitive games and the school with the best sign-up record at the end of the win prizes. Currently taking part in the competition are the ‘Big W Schools’ – Wales, Wath, Wickersley and Winterhill.

Sophie Smith has been a recent competitor for Wickersley taking part in last weeks game of ‘Heads Up’, Sophie managed to achieve a fantastic score of 100 putting Wickersleys lead to 1110 overall.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust’s  NCS  team have recently been into Y11 to tell them all about a fantastic opportunity that is available to them this summer once their exams are over!

Upon completion of their exams there is of course one BIG window of time and what we could consider ‘opportunity’ for young people to start to develop themselves in readiness for their next steps.

We would highly recommend that your young person considers doing NCS to fill four of those weeks productively whilst having fun, developing new skills and meeting other young people from Rotherham. Last year 80 students from Wickersley School took part in RUCST’s NCS programme and we haven’t stopped hearing from them as well as their parents about how much fun they had and how beneficial the programme was to them.

What’s more the programme offers great value for money at a cost of  only £50 for the full four weeks (or even better £35 if you sign-up online!)

In short, NCS is a fun, action packed programme that gives young people a chance to do something truly inspiring and worthwhile with their summer holidays – but don’t just take our word for it! For more information or indeed to sign-up your young person, please visit or if you’d like to speak to a member of the NCS team at Rotherham United please email or call 01709 827767.
