The 23rd April 2016 will mark 400 years since William Shakespeare’s death. It’s a unique opportunity to celebrate our greatest writer and bring to life his work in school.
Wickersley Drama Department will mark this extraordinary anniversary with a series of special Key Stage 3 lessons on Shakespeare’s characters and language, then on Thursday 21st of April, they will present free open-air Shakespeare performances in the A-Block Quad featuring witches, warriors, lovers, liars, monsters and monarchs!
Rehearsals also start in April for our brand new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream which will be presented to Y6 and Y7, as well as forming part of our A Summer Night’s Drama event on Friday 8th July.
In English lessons, students will be learning about Shakespeare’s life and exploring the many different sonnets and poems he wrote, taking inspiration from his works to develop their own poetry.
