Year 8 Charity Week – RAIN Support
School News
Tuesday 2nd May 2017

Back in September 2016, Year 8 held Dragon’s Den presentations to choose a charity for the year. Luke Howard and Joe Wood from 8L were successful in their presentation with students voting for RAIN Rescue, a local animal charity.

In October students raised money during the sponsored walk for RAIN and then after February Half Term students began planning for their big charity week which ran from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th April. Each form under the wonderful guidance and support of their form tutors held a variety of activities from Lip Sync Battles, FIFA Tournaments, Press-Up Challenges, Photo Booths, Fairground Games, Bake Sales and Sponsored Silences to raise money for this worthwhile cause. The week culminated in a whole school non-uniform day to raise awareness of the charity.

The current total stands at £1768.29 from the charity week with sponsor money still rolling in.

RAIN Rescue has said that this amount of money will pay their vet fees for an entire month and are extremely grateful for the efforts of our students. Following this successful week students will be reflecting upon the enterprise skills they have developed whilst planning and running their activities and how they can improve on these next year with an even bigger and better charity week.

Mrs Mason Head of Year 8 is extremely proud of the year group and would like to congratulate the students and form tutors for their wonderful achievement.
