On Wednesday 15th March eleven Year 9’s attended the ‘Make Create Innovate’ open evening at the AMRC Training Centre. The AMRC is the world’s sixth largest manufacturer with an engineering turnover of £800 billion per year. The trip gave students an insight into a real life industry and most importantly where engineering or STEM-related subjects can take them.
Cameron had a go at the virtual welding machine whilst Charlie & Harry enjoyed designing cars. Elliot had a go at innovating Rolls-Royce’s aerospace equipment whilst others built their own gadgets out of different plastics. Jaamal and Max found the science behind the candy floss machine most interesting and Ben collected many, many freebies.
Miss Guest and Mrs Bartholomew were so pleased with how enthusiastic the students were, especially during the tour of the workshop and robotics lab.
The AMRC holds numerous events throughout the year for students and parents, you can find more information here: www.amrctraining.co.uk.
