Women in Engineering Event
Design & Technology
Tuesday 25th June 2019

On Thursday 20th June, our Science Department took a group of Year 12 girls to the Doncaster High-Speed Rail College for a Women in Engineering event.

The six girls really did us proud, they had talks from women in engineering careers and had the chance to speak to girls studying aerospace and mechanical engineering. Whilst touring the college they had the chance to use augmented reality headsets and see how they use virtual reality to aid teaching. They also competed in a STEM challenge in the afternoon, using recycled materials to design, make and test a working windmill.

They presented their design to a panel of judges from the rail college and Sheffield Hallam University. Their designs were very highly praised by the judges and both teams won a prize!

Well done to all the girls!!
