Cross Country Success 🎽
Tuesday 20th March 2018

One of our Year 8 Students Josh Gilbert recently ran in the English Schools Cross Country Championship on Saturday 17th March at Temple Newsam Park in Leeds. Despite the severe weather warnings, the organisers said “its proper cross country weather!!”.

Josh said they were the hardest conditions he had ever ran in with freezing temperatures and really strong winds making it feel even colder. There was not much snow when he arrived on the day but had a few showers throughout the day. The course was really wet and muddy after all the rain making it really difficult.

Josh told us “I was disappointed to have finished 268th overall, but I was happy to finish 5th fastest in the South Yorkshire team. I was running alongside Year 9 students so I was one of the smallest and youngest there.

I want to say a big thank you for sponsoring me to run. I am really proud to have represented my county and my school. My running coach said to me at the beginning of the season that he wanted me to get a Yorkshire vest this year, so he is really pleased.”

We are very proud of your achievements Josh and look forward to hearing about lots more in the future!
