Lewis Ellams Y10 recently competed in the Junior British League Table Tennis tournament in a tough two-day competition over the weekend. Junior British League is an under 18 events, which hosts boys’ and girls’ teams from around Great Britain including Elite players from the England and International squads.
It was a great team performance with Lewis and his Rotherham Scorpion teammates Aaron and Jack coming away with a selection of medals and trophies. Their performance was outstanding seeing them winners of their division.
However, they did themselves, Rotherham and South Yorkshire proud, from 54 boys’ teams they were awarded by umpires and officials the team of the weekend. This is awarded for sportsmanship, team spirit, presentation and overall outstanding performance.
What a credit they are to the sport, parents, Rotherham Scorpions, school and colleges!
Lewis has a personal success losing only one game throughout the tournament and achieving a 100%-win rate in day two.
Lewis is a Year 10 pupil, at 14 years old he is one of the younger players in this prestigious challenging U18 event. Lewis is currently ranked in the top 40 U15 boys in the country and regularly competes in ETTA events. He also plays in the A-Team and Division One in the Rotherham and Sheffield leagues. He is sponsored by one of table tennis leading brands Bribar Joola.
