At the end of May, 37 year 7 and 8 pupils accompanied by four members of staff visited the picturesque Sotogrande in Andalusia, Southern Spain. Pupils took part in training sessions delivered by Athletico Madrid football coaches and competed in fixtures against the Athletico Madrid Academy and Sotogrande International School.
Pupils also took part in a number of different activities while on the trip, including; surfing, paddle boarding, flying kites of the kite surfers, bowling and adventure high ropes. We also visited the resorts of Puerto Banus and Marbella for a tour and ice cream.
Wickersley won 2 out of the 4 games against Spanish opposition with some excellent football played in warm conditions. Pupils represented Wickersley School superbly, receiving praise from members of the public in both England and Spain, while getting a special mention on both flights from the Jet2 staff over the planes PA system.
