BTEC Performing Arts

Overview of KS3

In Y9, students can opt to take BTEC Performing Arts. During this year, students will build on skills that they have touched on in Y7 and 8 Drama and will strengthen their ability in creating, performing and evaluating. Students will develop their technique and communication skills through voice and movement and effectively learn how to demonstrate audience awareness. Students in Year 9 devise and develop their own Drama performances inspired by a range of stimuli and also explore a wide variety of theatrical genres. They will study a published play script and also learn a scripted extract from a play and perform this for assessment. There will also be an opportunity to go backstage and see the inner workings of a theatre whilst also seeing a piece of live theatre.
