The annual History residential to Belgium to visit the World War One Battlefields has recently taken place.
34 students from Years 9,10 and 12 accompanied by 7 members of staff carried out a five day visit to the area around Ypres and the Somme region of France. As part of the visit students visited a number of World War One memorials and museums, including Tyne Cot, Thiepval, Newfoundland Memorial park and the Vimy Ridge memorial.
Students were able to appreciate the sacrifices made during the conflict and pay their respects to those who had fallen. On the final evening the group participated in the Menin Gate memorial service and laid a wreath on behalf of the school. As ever the students were a credit to themselves, their families and the school.
Thanks to all those involved in running and leading the trip and to the students who were a superb bunch. Next years trip is already booked in and letters will be available soon for those students who are interested.
