Y8 students attended the “Big Bang Science and Technology Fair” at Doncaster Race Course.
There were over 40 interactive activities for pupils to take part in on the day, including carrying out ultrasounds, a Formula 1 simulator, veterinary workshops involving live snakes and tarantulas, and Oculus Rift, a virtual reality headset not yet available to the general public. Pupils were also able to meet scientists and engineers to find out about the wide range of Science, Technology and Engineering careers open to them. They also attended a talk on the science behind flat screen displays and liquid-crystal displays. A fantastic event which the students (and teachers) thoroughly enjoyed.
