The first Classics Department Rome Trip departed on Friday 17th Feb and returned in the early hours of Tuesday morning. 10 Year 12 students and 25 Y7 and 8s came along with Miss Burns, Mrs Stevenson, Miss Dooley, Mr Allen and our wonderful translator Miss Dalle Fratte. Miss Burns’ Dad (Bern) also attended as a tour guide extraordinaire. We had a brilliant time, visiting the Vatican, Pantheon, Colosseum, Circus Maximus and Catacombs San Sebastiano.
Miss Burns’ team streaked a narrow victory in our mock up chariot race at the Circus Maximus. Top marks went to Georgia Green for her dedication to Bern’s Rome Quiz being the only student to complete it! Other highlights included Max and Billy both transporting Eve by piggy back, Miss Burns deleting and then Sheryl retrieving Beth’s photos and Mrs Stevenson’s special dance moves. Miss Dooley’s excellent leadership allowed a small group of students to see the Pope at St Peter’s Basilica. Meanwhile, Mr Allen’s wise words kept us all in check. We also enjoyed Miss Dalle Fratte’s excellent Italian music on the way there.
Thanks to all for a great trip. See you next year!
