On Wednesday 14th March an invited group of Y10 Scientists took part in a Science Activity Day called CSI Wickersley. The focus of this day was ‘Forensic Science’ and we invited an External Specialist into School to run the full day event in Lab C12.
There were lots of experiments and investigations all looking into crime scene evidence from a fictional break in and assault. Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOs) collected and analysed information including ‘blood’ spatter, fingerprint and handwriting comparisons as well as shoe imprints and plenty of role play for a mock trial so it proved to be a very exciting and stimulating day.
….the verdict thanks to the impeccable handling of the ‘Chain of Custody’ of the evidence was ‘Guilty!’
