Families build up a head of steam at the National Railway Museum
On Saturday 28th January Y7 students and their parents took part in a ‘School Ties’ trip to York and The National Railway Museum. The coach left Wickersley at 9.00am and as the sun came out we knew we were on track for a great day.
The day started at the NRM where students and parents got to discover Britain’s railway heritage through historic, old, modern day engines and super trains alike. At midday the group were able to stoke the fires with lunch beside some vintage carriages, then full steam ahead into the historic city of York.
Teams took part in the York Treasure Hunt and visited sights including York Minster, York Castle and The York Eye. Colby Blackband and dad were victorious in the treasure hunt after running around and completing all 45 questions! – well done to you both. No one went off the rails and everyone made it back in time to catch the coach home.
An eventful and enjoyable day for all involved. Choo choo….
