Is kickboxing safe for children and teenagers?

Recently, a 14-year-old boy from Sheffield died suddenly while competing for one of the biggest titles (in Leeds) in his career. We have to ask ourselves: Was this a simple accident, or a lack of training? And why wasn’t he pulled out off the match when he was getting injured?

We spoke to a representative of Wickersley School and Sports College, Mrs Crane, The Deputy Head and asked her if contact sports are suitable for schools. She told us that ‘If taught correctly, it is completely safe with the right padding and safety precautions’. Mrs Crane is also a big fan of the Welsh rugby team, so she may know something about contact sport.
