On the 14th and 15th of January Kristie Edwards completed her first race of 2012. It was the North of England championships where all the athletes from the north compete to claim the title. Kristie went out in the 60m and ran the fastest time and also improved on her pb from 7.99 and to 7.90, it was the fastest qualifier to go through to the semi’s including beating last years champion.

Kristie then went and finished the semi’s with a slightly slower time of 7.95. The pressure was on Kristie for the final however she couldnt be beaten and managed to kick in half way to take the gold and clock 7.91!  The next day Kristie had 200m to contend with, the first heat went down well clocking 25.89 and made it through being the fastest into the final. Kristie was on fire and won again clocking a new pb of 25.44 for the 200m making her the fastest in the UK for the indoors so far, by the end of this week she will find out whether she has achieved the standard to reach the next level where she will get the opportunity to run at the new olympic stadium to try the track out and stay in the park where the Olympians will be staying. lets hope it all goes well!
