Head Injury is a common cause of ill-health, and loss of life amongst children. A head injury can result in hospitalizations and days off school, as well as bringing about long term consequences for the child’s cognitive abilities, behaviour or even physical capabilities.

According to the Headway Brain Injury Association, at least 1 million people in the UK live with the long-term effects of a head injury, with someone being hospitalized for Acquired Brain Injury every 90 seconds. The incidence of hospitalisation for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in England has been reported as ranging from 280-500 per 100,000 children, aged 16 or below, with around 6% of these being classed as ‘severe’.
