On 12th March 10 Talent Year 8 students participated in the “Teen Tech South Yorkshire” STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) event at Doncaster Racecourse.
Students from 30 schools from across the South Yorkshire Region experienced a lively hands-on day of experiments and challenges.
Students had lots of fun participating in a range of activities, and Aaron Smith even won the top secret challenge to reassemble some ‘O Rings’ from a Submarine Seal with the help of Engineers from AES Seal. The students also enjoyed wiring up their own guitar powered by electronic circuits and designed some very funky ‘TV Goggles’; an idea which they presented to other schools.
This is the first year students from Wickersley School and Sports College have attended the event, our school was well represented by our 10 enthusiastic students! The day also enabled the students to learn more about future career paths in design related subjects by engaging with industry professionals.
Well done to all that took part!
