The Scottish referendum is a vote that takes place to see if the Scottish is wanting to be a separate Country or if it wants to stay with the United Kingdom. The Scottish wanted another vote however, Teresa May simply said, “No!”. Also, Theresa May wants the Scottish to stay in the United Kingdom; All the Scottish voted and they voted to stay! The next election is in 2021!

A quote from Nicola Sturgeon: “This is like winding the clock back to the bad old days of Margaret Thatcher.” 57% of Scots voted to stay in the UK.

A quote from Theresa May: “We have a bright future together and we need to make sure we are putting our energy into the right deal with the European Union”.

Theresa May is refusing for another Scottish referendum and she is frustrating Nicola Sturgeon. The Prime Minister decided Scotland should not be given a vote and should wait to see what Brexit is really like. Mrs May infuriated the First minister by rejecting her demand for the referendum between Autumn 2018 and Spring 2019, her stating, “now is not the time.”

Ms Sturgeon, determined for this to work, comments on this saying “democratic outrage!”. She added she would, “Consider my options and what I should do” if a Scottish Parliament referendum is also turned down. Ensuring no vote will take place before 2021, Scottish Elections, Mrs May has cast doubt on whether a referendum will happen at all, as Unionists will be hoping the public appetite for a vote will be dwindled by then and the SNP.

Mrs Mays spokesperson called the vote to be off. The first minister said, “ If The Prime Minister refuses to engage on the terms of a referendum before Brexit takes place, then she is effectively trying to block the people of Scotland having a choice over the future.” She later told Scottish Broadcaster STV that the day had crystallised the case for independence!
