Well Done Jamie!

I am making contact to bring to your attention the efforts made by one of your pupils, namely Jamie Burns (year 7T). Jamie was present at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on Bawtry Road, Wickersley, just outside the school, on Saturday 3rd May.

As the first police officer on scene I had multiple casualties to attend to, major disruption to both carriageways of the road network and over a hundred members of the public observing.

Jamie, and a male I believe to be his Father, without direction, immediately took control of the heavy flow of traffic at the top of Church Lane and began to redirect people away from the scene. This enabled the scene of the collision to be kept sterlile until other officers and emergency services arrived, and ensured the safety of the fire service crews working in the middle of both carriageways.

Please pass on my personal thanks to Jamie for his sterling work under very stressful conditions.

Kind regards,
PC 3842 Burton
