Business and Economics sixth form students last week returned from a four day trip to New York. The trip, which has become of a yearly event, is based around the key financial institutions of New York. In addition to tours of Wall Street, the financial district and the Federal Reserve, students also experienced a briefing by top analysts at Goldman Sachs’ swanky Manhattan head office. Students were not fazed by the prestigious setting and engaged in an excellent question and answer setting.
In addition to the rigorous work schedule, students were also able to sample other aspects of New York life. Visits to the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty almost go without saying. Retail therapy was provided by Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Times Square and FAO Schwartz. Eating on consecutive nights at Planet Hollywood, Bubba Gump and Hard Rock Cafe was a joy. Other events included a trip to the ‘Top of the Rock, ice-skating in Central Park and a walk over Brooklyn Bridge. Cap this lot with an audience with legendary US TV presenter Ernie Anastos and you really do have a trip to remember.
