This year as always Wickersley entered the Rotherham Schools Tennis Association league at both U13 and U15 level, the league consists of playing 2 singles matches followed by a doubles against another school and the top team in each league qualifies for the South Yorkshire School Games.

This year Caleb Jack (Y7) and Andrew Cleminson (Y8) have made up the U13’s pairing whilst Tom Roe (Y10) and Tom Oxley (Y10) have represented at U15 level. Incredibly both teams won their respective leagues with all the boys showing great skill and consistency on a weekly basis deservedly qualifying for the South Yorkshire School Games on the 1st of July at Doncaster Tennis Club competing against teams from Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield. The standard was extremely high in both competitions with 8 pairings battling it out in a straight doubles competition; the U15 boys finished a very respectable 4th and actually beat the eventual winners on the day. The U13 boys actually managed to go one step further and win the whole competition and the gold medals on offer, officially crowning them as the best school pairing in the whole of South Yorkshire – a quite remarkable achievement. Well done boys from Mr Walker and the whole PE department!
