On Friday 11th October, Y11 students took part in a number of activities for their careers day. Students tried ‘speed interviewing’ with local companies, allowing them to meet employers and have a go at answering a range of interview questions. All participants enjoyed the fast-paced fun.
Students reported how it was an opportunity for them to ‘think on their feet’ and talk about themselves, a very important skill in the current job market. Whilst many employers gave some excellent feedback about the demeanour, behaviour and attitude of our students! Well done to Y11 for looking and acting so business-like and professional!
A visit to a local college, which specialises in vocational studies, gave students an opportunity to explore the various courses on offer and get a feel for college life. In addition, presentations by 6th form and the University of Sheffield, gave insights into studying Advanced-level subjects and an introduction to Higher Education, and the opportunities it can lead to.
