The Year 11 careers day was all about making informed decisions and exploring options. Students had an opportunity to meet a wide range of local/international businesses and institutions during a careers fair held in the main hall.
The morning’s programme also included a range of talks about post-16 routes, such as apprenticeships, vocational college and sixth form. In addition, workshops were delivered on Options, Decision making and Applications.
All students were invited to attend a ‘mock’ interview, which enabled them to get some practice of doing an interview and work on their interview technique, before the real thing. Interviews were then ‘flipped on their head’, as students worked in groups to ‘interview the interviewers’ and find out more about important employability skills.
For careers help and guidance, students should contact the Careers department, located in the LRC (email: careerswrl@wickersley.net or speak to Mrs J Ward).
