Contextual Information for University and College Admissions Teams

At Wickersley we offer a comprehensive curriculum, that includes both A-level and applied qualifications. Our students can opt to study a mixture of A-level and applied subjects should they wish.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Wickersley School and Sports College were instructed to close by the government on the 20th March 2020. Immediately after our school closed, teachers set independent work for students to complete at home, facilitated remotely through Google Classroom. From the 18th May onwards, students received some live, online lessons from their teachers. Although our lockdown provision was comprehensive, online learning is not a substitute for classroom learning.

From the 1st June 2020, some students were invited into school in small groups for intervention. These were students who, for varying reasons, were struggling to adapt to remote, online learning or students taking practical based courses.

Our school reopened to all students on the 2nd September 2020.

When forming their predictions, our teachers use a range of sources, including class assessment, homework, and mock exams. Our Year 13 students were scheduled to take their Y12 mock exams in July, these could not take place as normal due to the government restrictions placed upon us. Alternative arrangements were made to assess these students at home. These students are now scheduled to sit Y13 Mock exams in November and January.
