Success at the Inters Athletics

The Inters Athletics meet once again lived up to the excitement and heritage this traditional event boasts.

Dinnington, Wath, Maltby and of course Wickersley battled out the track and field events at Barnsley’s Dorothy Hyman Stadium.

Sum 80 students wore the Wickersley jersey vests with pride and certainly didn’t let us or themselves down coming away with overall victory via the points system, taking back the 90 year old huge Inters School Trophy Shield, dating back to 1932.

Year group results saw only the Y8s taking the first place above Wath whom secured first places for the Y7, Y9 and Y10 teams. However, with this confirmed, nearly everyone expected Wath to take overall victory, but it wasn’t the case due to the consistency in placings and the massive points tally the Y8 Wickersley team secured, ensuring Wickersley pipped Wath at the final hurdle.

Huge thanks for all staff who contributed.
