Wickersley KS3 Athletics team hold onto their Inters Titles

The Rotherham schools Inters Athletics championships took place again at the wonderful Dorothy Hyman stadium in Barnsley.

A hot sunny start greeted all the athletes which stuck around for the full day. Like the standard, the atmosphere remained high all day amongst the four schools, as Wickersley, Maltby, Dinnington and Wath students respectively battled it out to take home the converted and historic trophies.

As the track and field events came to a close, the team relays and most exciting part of the event took place. No school at this point knew their position in terms of points overall, resulting in an exciting finale.

As the students completed the relays and the 200 plus all seated to wait the results, the anticipation grew. We can proudly announce that all Wickersley year groups were crowned champions which meant we as a school regained our status in the Inters Athletics Rotherham schools Championships once again.

Well done to all students who represented Wickersley brilliantly. Go team Wick! 🏆
